There is one time of year that green beer flows from taps around the world in celebration of the most famous Irish Saint. Since the holiday is an official feast day in the Catholic religion, drinking alcohol is permitted even though the holiday takes place during Lent. There are reports of blue actually first being the color of Saint Patricks Day but we are glad that is not the case since blue beer just doesn't sound right. According to historical records St. Paddy used the shamrock in his teachings to the pagans and that's the best explaination we could find online. Most Irish bar owners add green food coloring either in the keg or by directly squeezing into each glass. Even the Prez joins the fun at the most famous house of all!
